SOL: It’s beginning to look a lot like …

I looked up from some frustrating and annoying emails on my computer screen and there it was: SNOW!!  Finally.  Our first of the season.  And it’s beautiful, too: big, thick, fluffy flakes.  It’s sticking a little, and the weather people say we’ll have about an inch by the end of the day.  Not much, but better than no snow at all.

I love snow.  I actually love winter.  I’ve had to become wary of snowy weather since my knee was damaged years ago.  If (or, sadly, when) I fall, it’s never a good thing.  I’m out of commission for at least a few days, walking with a cane afterwards.  No fun.  I brought my cane with me today just in case.  But all of that can’t do anything to change the fact that I love, love, LOVE the snow!   When I was a kid in upstate New York, we always had so much snow, already on the ground before Thanksgiving most years.   I still remember one storm that left us with snow taller than Fox (ok, she was only three, but she was a tall three!).

I have to be on a conference call in an hour … but maybe I can sneak out and catch some flakes on my tongue before then!

  1. I love snow, too. Some people want to move to warmer climates to get away from winter, but I would miss winter. I’m not keen on driving on ice, though.

I hope this winter doesn’t bring you any new falls.

  2. I can feel the love. I used to feel it too and still now, when I can be safe and away from a car I love it too. But caught in a car, I start to shake. It was not that way for many years, but now, I am very respectful of its power but no one loved snow days more then I did.

  3. The kids went wild when the snow began falling today. Then I had them look down. It didn’t stick. They sat back down. Was it wrong to point out that it wasn’t sticking?

  4. Sadly, Tuesday’s snow didn’t stick … but yesterday’s snow did. There wasn’t much of it, and it turned to sleet by nightfall, but it was still pretty. And right now it’s pretty slippery out!

Stacey, you made me laugh. I had the same experience Tuesday. I kept saying, “Look at the snow!” and everyone else kept saying, “It’s not sticking.”

Tomorrow’s the first day of winter, and we’re due more snow … maybe a white Christmas is in store. Our first one in years!
